We are from the "OLD SCHOOL" and believe in working hard to make our money. In nearly 26 years of being SELF EMPLOYED, SUB / INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS the thought of trying to collect unemployment or worker's compansation has NEVER crossed our minds when a company chose not to use us or when the industry gets slow.
****OUR NIGHTMARES BEGIN****
In March 2010 we received a letter from the NEW HAMPSHIRE EMPLOYMENT SECURITIES UNIT asking us to fill out the questionare and stating someone was CLAIMMING we are his "EMPLOYER" and he's going after us for unemployment benefits. WOW what a shocker as we've NEVER been considered "EMPLOYERS" or considered ourselves as "EMPLOYEES". After several calls to this NHESU we find out that the state has deemed us as "EMPLOYERS" because of some "A, B, C" test under RSA: 282-A: 8 1 law. No matter our protests and explainations, we got no where. Now we're appealing all this guys LIES & ALLIGATIONS and the state's deeming of us as "EMPLOYERS". We've contacted our governor and our local news team and a couple newspapers. We're waiting to see if the news or papers go anywhere. The governor contacted someone in the NHESU in Concord, NH and appointed someone to be available for our questions and be there to help us with every step of this ordeal.
We're doing everything we can to make this PUBLIC. The people, businesses, self emploed, etc... needs to know that this "A, B, C" test could deem ANY PERSON, BUSINESS, SELF EMPLOYED, SUB / INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR, etc... as an "EMPLOYER".
****WE'RE SEEKING SUPPORT****
We're seeking support from everyone who reads this, escorts, escort companies, brokers, trucking companies, truck drivers, businesses, people, etc...This "rule / law" NEEDS to be CHANGED. This stuff needs to STOP. People like this, need to know that he or she are NOT going to live off the system at our expense because he or she doesn't want to work for a living and represent himself or herself in a manor in which others will want to work with him. Please help us in this mission to add another state to our short list that will PROTECT the small businesses, self employed, sub / independent contractors, etc...If you're in this industry you know what it's like to constantly seek work for yourselves and others like you, keep good reputations and get by with being self employed and working. NOT LIVING ON THE SYSTEM or EXPECTING OTHERS TO PAY YOUR WAY WHEN YOU SCREW UP.
You can help by spreading the word, speaking out, sending us ANYTHING that proves this "escort, pilot car" industry is FULL of self employed, sub / independent contractors. NOT EMPLOYERS & EMPLOYEES.
